The Preschool Bookbag is for preschool-age children and their families. The bookbag and everything inside promotes and encourages families to have fun reading together while learning about fruits and vegetables and where they come from, being active, and spending family time together.

The Preschool Bookbag is designed for use in pre-schools, daycare homes or centers, libraries, home-visiting programs, or any other program that services preschool-age children and their families. Each child in the program takes a turn bringing home the bookbag for 3-7 days, then returns it (keeping the give-away items inside) for the next child to take home and share with his or her family.

What's In the Preschool Bookbag?

The Preschool Bookbag contains everything you will need to conduct the program with 30 families. Inside the washable zippered tote you will find:

• Plastic Zip-Top Bags (30 bags): Provides storage for the Family Tip Sheet, Recipe Card Set, Growing Healthy Kids Booklet and anything else you decide to give away to families.
• "Yours to Keep" Stickers (30): One sticker gets applied to each of the plastic zip-top bags.
• Family Tip Sheets (one tear pad with 30 copies): Includes information and tips for families on helping kids to eat more fruits and vegetables and raising children to read.
• Recipe Card Sets (two tear pads with 30 sets): Includes eight family-friendly fruit and vegetable recipes with nutrition tips on the back (two different tear pads with four recipes on each).
• Growing Healthy Kids Booklets (30 copies): Provides simple tips for families on how to improve the health of the entire family by role modeling healthy behaviors, being physically active, and by creating a home environment that supports healthy choices.
• A Family Letter: Explains to families how to use the bookbag.
• Three Children’s Books: Provides positive messages about fruits and vegetables.
